Seasonal flowers and salty air

Heureux celui qui peut d'une aile vigoureuse
S'élancer vers les champs lumineux et sereins;

Celui dont les pensers, comme des alouettes,
Vers les cieux le matin prennent un libre essor,
— Qui plane sur la vie, et comprend sans effort
Le langage des fleurs et des choses muettes!

 Charles Baudelaire

Happy is the man who can with vigorous wing
Mount to those luminous serene fields!
The man whose thoughts, like larks,
Take liberated flight toward the morning skies
--Who hovers over life and understands without effort
The language of flowers and voiceless things!

With this post, I’m leaving you...
I ‘ll be back at the end of summer.
Enjoy your holidays whatever you do, wherever you are!
A big hug to all of you

Ready for the show

If you are almost 11 years old, if the world still seems
magical in your eyes, then you are justified in living only
according to your heart. Everything seems to be
magnified, life is exciting and the only concern is the
upcoming event.
For seven years in a row, in early July, tension and strain
accompany the sweet dreams of a little ballerina during
the last ten days of intensive rehearsals.
The Swan lake waltz was in program this year for the
pre-pointe ballet class. For the higher classes, the
show program included music inspired by cinema.
So, the little swan  did it all by herself. She chose
the chignon, she made-up, painted her nails, got dressed
and prepared her provisions for back stage.
She has been comprehensive even in moments of crisis
and total despair when the teacher
compared them to …turkeys rather than swans!!!...
She is growing up, time flies and although  it’s absolutely
normal, deep inside I regret she is leaving childhood behind.
Anyway, the important thing is to live beautifully,
to have strength and faith to principles you believe in.
Children built their personality according to what
we adults offer to them and art is a way of loving life.

I’m leaving you with these words.

Childhood is the world of miracle or of magic: it is as if
creation rose luminously out of the night, all new and
fresh and astonishing. Childhood is over the moment things
are no longer astonishing. When the world gives you a
feeling of "déjà vu," when you are used to existence,
you become an adult.
Eugene Ionesco

Art must be an expression of love.
Marc Chagal

There will be another post and I deserve a pause for August.
Hope you are fully enjoying summer days wherever you are.

Oleanders and a tale

Oleanders probably don’t compete with the preciousness
of other plants such as roses, peonies, hydrangeas or
tulips but their characteristics make those evergreen
shrubs a garden-must in southern warm coastal
landscapes. They grow very fast and easily, require
little care and when they are covered with blossoms,
they are lovely and if you have provided
a vast space for growing them massively,
they repay you by offering a spectacular
and enduring view.

There is a tale in which a beautiful maiden, Hero,
a priestess of Aphrodite was in love with Leander,
a young man who swam across the Hellespont every
night to join his beloved.
One day, in stormy weather, he was drowned and his
body was thrown against sharp rocks.
Hero was anxiously waiting for him and when she found
him, a beautiful flower was clutched in his hand.
She kept it but magically the flower continued to grow
until it became the beautiful oleander,
symbol of everlasting love.

July is on its way, our daughter is preparing for the ballet
show like every year. The months of rehearsals have
flown by and the big day is at hand! Staying in a  summer
camp for a couple of weeks is also in her plans!
We spend our free time οn the roof terrace where it’s
much cooler than in our town garden, going for a swim and
at the week end we still try to arrange our courtyard
in the country house which nevertheless demands
a lot of patience and… not only!

I am making an effort to understand how Pinterest works
since my computer guy has refused to give me a hand,
considering that it’s easy to do by myself.
This cute boy gets on my nerves because
I am wasting time and it’s not sure that I will make it...
the big computer genius that I am!!! Haha...
Anyway, I have nothing to promote or to sell but
it’s interesting to get a glimpse into an ocean
of photos, share beauty, be inspired or just relaxed.
If you have a simple suggestion, you are welcome!
Hope everything is under control in your pace of life,
Sending you beautiful thoughts
